Another Renewable Energy Project Powered by BPi
St. Helena, CA, May 29, 2013: Charles Krug Winery, a renowned name in Napa Valley’s wine industry, has taken a significant step towards sustainability by announcing the installation of a state-of-the-art 1.2 megawatt solar energy system at its historic winery located in St. Helena, California. The project is fully operational and will cover up to 40% of the winery’s energy requirements. This initiative underscores Charles Krug’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship while preserving its heritage of innovation in winemaking. The solar panels, comprising more than 4,400 photovoltaic solar panels, will be strategically placed on the rooftops of Charles Krug Winery and above a new tank canopy that will be constructed over the outdoor fermentation tanks. In addition to generating 1,683,594 kWh/Year of clean energy, the rooftop solar and canopy will provide essential shade during the scorching harvest season, reducing the energy required for cooling the tanks and enhancing operational efficiency.
